OVERVIEW

The Cooper Discoverer Rugged Trek is a rugged terrain, all weather tire manufactured for SUVs and light trucks. Cooper offers a 55,000 mile treadwear warranty with light truck sizes, and a 60,000 mile treadwear warranty with SUV sizes of this model.

The tire improves the rugged terrain performance. The aggressive tread design with the earth digger shoulders and the Stable Trac Technology enhance the traction on versatile on- and off-road terrain surface conditions. These tread elements improve the soft, loose and uneven terrain grip by providing the necessary surface contact and a higher number of biting edges. The tread’s staggered blocks and high void ratio keep the footprint clean. They disperse water and slush from the footprint, preventing them from blocking the surface contact. Furthermore, the self-cleaning ability and the special stone blockades eject rocks stuck in the footprint, effectively preventing stone retention from harming the casing during the performance. This combination enhances the tire’s on- and off-road driving safety levels.

The stabilized tread elements and the optimal block placement across the tread area improves the surface contact while the tires are in motion. As a result, the tire is able to greatly upgrade the on- and off-road terrain steering responsiveness and driving stability. In other words, the footprint’s better and constant surface contact manages to improve the steering response time and accuracy to the driver’s instructions, while it effectively secures the structural stability throughout the performance. The siping placement and the optimal shoulder blocks enhance the cornering and braking ability, optimizing the tire’s overall maneuvering durability.

The detailed tread design and the all weather compound improve the year round usability. The staggered block pattern with the zigzag siping pattern enhances the grip the tire has in dry, wet and winter conditions. The siping pattern and the staggered block edges enhance the number of biting edges gripping the road surface, allowing the tire’s traction throughout the year. On the other hand, the stronger compound elements optimize the rubber flexibility in versatile temperatures, from the heat of summer to colder winter weather situations. The tread’s wide groove pattern disperses water and slush from the footprint, in order to avoid hydroplaning during the tire’s on-road performance. This results in a safer wet weather traction.

The model helps to extend its tread life. The stabilized tread elements and the stronger compound improve the usability. The footprint’s stability prevents tread flexing from generating excessive pressure along the tread area. This allows the tire to evenly circulate the driving pressure across the footprint, avoiding irregular wear formations. Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
